Plein Air San Miguel

February 19 - 23, 2018

5 days, 3 Instructors

Paint in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, with Anne Blair Brown, Frank Gardner, and Thomas Jefferson Kitts.

This is our third year! Award winning artists Anne, Frank, and Thomas are teaming up again to take you on an exciting plein air adventure in beautiful San Miguel de Allende!

What will be taught...

In this workshop, Anne, Frank, and Thomas will guide you through their methods for composing a successful outdoor painting, from start to finish. You will learn how to zero in on a subject and quickly set yourself up for success while also managing changing light conditions. Anne, Frank, and Thomas will use daily demonstrations to share key elements that make a painting succeed: strong design, solid values, color harmony, and creative use of edges and brushstrokes. All three will also share how to balance academics with personal expression, and encourage you to create solid paintings that reflect your individual style.

Experience a low student to teacher ratio...

Registration for this workshop will close at a maximum 24 students. We believe that keeping the student/teacher ratio low creates quality one-on-one instruction time. On Day One you will work with the entire group and all three instructors. On Day Two, Three, and Four, each teacher will instruct only eight students at a time, with each group rotating every day. Then, on Day Five you will work with the whole group and all the teachers again, putting together what you have learned during your intensive week.
